The November 14, 2020 game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Georgia Tech athletic department announced the game as part of their partnership with AMB Sports & Entertainment and Peach Bowl, Inc. on Tuesday afternoon.

The Irish and Yellow Jackets will square off as part of a new five-year initiative where Georgia Tech will host one game per season at the home of the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.

With dates and opponents yet to be determined for the 2021 and 2023 games, Georgia Tech will face the Clemson Tigers in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game on Labor Day in 2022.

Notre Dame and Georgia Tech will play each other again at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on October 19, 2024.

For Notre Dame, playing in professional stadiums across the country on a yearly basis is nothing new.

However, for Georgia Tech Athletic Director Todd Stansbury, the annual series at Mercedes-Benz Stadium helps the Atlanta-based university meet several objectives for the future of its football program.

Stansbury hopes the game will advance the establishment of Georgia Tech becoming a "premier brand in the Atlanta sports culture, giving student-athletes the opportunity to perform in one of the NFL’s top stadiums and providing fans with an ultra-modern gameday experience."

“I’m excited for Georgia Tech, our student-athletes and our fans to have the opportunity to showcase our football program annually in one of the most recognizable and state-of-the-art facilities in the world, Mercedes-Benz Stadium," Stansbury said.

Former Temple University and current Georgia Tech head coach Geoff Collins added that holding one home game at the home of the Falcons is a win-win for Georgia Tech football. He also said the annual game will become a unique feature for the program, as the stadium is less than a mile from the campus.

“The city of Atlanta goes hand-in-hand with the brand of Georgia Tech football, so taking advantage of the opportunity to play in Atlanta’s premier sports venue on an annual basis is a great development for our program," Collins said in a statement published on Georgia Tech's official athletics site, RamblinWreck.com.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is also home to Major League Soccer's Atlanta United and hosted Super Bowl LIII and the 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
