RIP Pancho Billa

In Sports, there are some franchises blessed enough with having one super-fan whom everyone can hold in high esteem. The New York Knicks have Spike Lee, to my knowledge, their only fan these days. The Vancouver Canucks had the green-man before the NHL decided to be that kind of a fan was somehow bad for Hockey and of course, the Washington Redskins have Chief Z and all of my full-blooded Native American Cousins as fans.

Go on, tell me one more time how offensive that team name is.

Irrelevant, we're here to talk about the passing Pancho Billa, who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 39. What a shame, he was far too young and was taken from us far too soon. How beloved was Pancho? He was brought on-stage at the 2018 draft just so he could announce the selection of Harrison Philips. Kim Pegula posted a tweet with a fabulous selfie, referring to him as a “tremendous inspiration”.  Brandon Beane FACETIMED him to let him know the Bills had selected Ed Oliver. That's what I call class.

The Bills are scheduled to honor Pancho on the 22nd of September, at home against the Bungles. I don't know what they're planning to do but I trust burning Tailgate Village to the ground will not be a part of the festivities. Still, it's nice for the Bills to be honoring Pancho this way. This sort of ceremony is usually reserved for players, coaches or executives.

I just wanted to take the time to reach out to Pancho's family and tell them I'm very sorry for their loss and that he will never be forgotten. He was our hero and now, us sheep are lost without our shepherd.  Now, he can watch the Bills win their first Super Bowl from Heaven.

RIP Pancho
